It runs iOS and can do anything an iPhone can do without the cellular part. Yes, the iPod touch is an entirely Wi-Fi-based device. It can be used to send iMessages, make FaceTime calls, or even use apps on an iPhone. It’s really great if you don’t want to spend iPhone money, but want the full advantages of iOS anyway.
